What do you think of the new Lumpkin County Justice Center?
So far it looks great. This is the kind of courthouse our county needs.
I like it, I just wish it was in a different spot.
What was wrong with our old courthouse?

Pair charged with trafficking ecstasy

A month's worth of undercover work by local officials has ultimately landed two drug trafficking suspects in the Lumpkin County Detention Center.

“They actually sold to a GBI agent that we used as an undercover,” said Sheriff Stacy Jarrard. “No one knew him in the community.”

While working with the LCSO and Appalachian Drug Task Force, the undercover agent reportedly gained the trust of Tiffany M. White and Stephen Chrzanowski until they allegedly sold him approximately $2,000 worth of ecstasy last Thursday.

The illegal transaction reportedly took place at a residence on North Chestatee Street where the agent purchased a bag of small colorful pills. Each one was stamped with a different symbol which ranged from the Atlanta Falcons logo to the Transformers emblem.

One ADTF agent said the bright colors and symbols are added by drug makers so the pill will take on the appearance of a children's vitamin.

During the undercover deal, the suspects shortchanged their customer.

The undercover agent paid for 100 pills at $20 a piece, but was instead given 98.

Chrzanowski, 27, was charged with trafficking ecstasy, instead of possession with intent, since the amount of drugs allegedly sold weighed in at 32 grams, or over an ounce.

White, 20, was charged with two counts of distribution of ecstasy.

Investigators also seized Chrzanowski's vehicle.

" These are my favorite stories. Someone from the family always puts in a post about how great of a person the arrested individual is and how we don't know the full story.

These stories are priceless. "

" This may be just a hand full of pills, well really less than a hand full, and less than a drop in a river in Lumpkin County's fast growing drug trade, but at least it's takes a dealer off the streets for a few weeks. "

" I don't know these people at all, but I am sure we don't know the full story or should I say we know more than the full story. "trafficking" is a term used for big time drug runners and this was just a hundred pills. That is just small time street level stuff. Why is it Dawson and White Counties take out thousands of pills almost everyday and don't have to put it in the paper and they call it catching a dope dealer not "trafficking" "

EXPOSED wrote on Sep 26, 2009 6:32 PM:

" Good job catching the drug thugs. I hope you guys catch em all.

By the way, wouldn't you have a better chance of making more arrest if you didn't tell everyone in the world that you now have a undercover GBI agent buying and selling drugs for you in Lumpkin County? DUH!!!

Now any drug deal that was about to take place, won't in fear of a COP being disguised as the dealer. Great opportunity lost again.

Let's drug test every citizen before their next driver's license is reissued and you may catch more of these low lifers.

Drug test every kid in the High School and faulty as well. Let's get drugs out of the schools and then we can get them off the streets too "

to exposed wrote on Sep 27, 2009 9:46 PM:

" I think everyone except those on or dealing drugs would like to get them off the streets, but would drug testing every highschooler, high school employee, and driver's license applicant even be possible ? "

" "JUST A HUNDRED PILLS"????!!! You have GOT to be kidding me! Imagine standing at the coffin of your dead chld and hearing someone mumble those words!! Wonder how that would relate if it was your kid who took that handful of pills? Nearly every child that played with my children as they grew up is DEAD - handful of pills, couple of beers, few miles over the speed limit - big tree, funeral arrangements.....what's the big deal?!! WOW - can you say IDIOT!!! ??? "

" So, it is truley odd to me that members of this community actually come to the defense of drug dealers. Every time a story is posted about the fantastic job our law enforcement officials are doing some "joe blow" writes in and says something like " trafficking is a term used for big time drug runners and this was just a hundred pills." And just a little vocabulary lesson; a "drug trafficking offense" is "an offense under federal, state, or local law that prohibits the manufacture, import, export, distribution, or dispensing of a controlled substance (or a counterfeit substance) or the possession of a controlled substance (or a counterfeit substance) with intent to manufacture, import, export, distribute, or dispense."(cited from the federal sentencing guidelines) Never does the definition of the offense give a quanitative amount before it can be called " trafficking" . Obviously, someones dealer got arrested and they are just upset about it. As for me, I am very proud of the job our local law enforcement and GBI agents are doing. "

Yvette wrote on Sep 28, 2009 4:38 PM:

" I agree with Karen, thank God there are at least 100 pills off the streets. But if you read the story it says they sold 100 no where does it state that that was all they had in their possession. And the definition of trafficking doesn't state an amount just that you are selling or passing something or someone on to someone else illegally. And need a history lesson get real, prohibition didn't stop anything. There is still alcohol on the streets and people still make their own homemade wines etc.and you can't drug test everyone. It's not the drugs it's the abuse of the drugs that's the problem. "

I can say idiot wrote on Sep 28, 2009 5:15 PM:

" Karen, get real now anybody that would take a handful of pills intends to kill themself. If it was not the pills they would kill them selves some other way. Yes it takes an idiot to take even one of these pills. I have smoked a little pot in my younger years, but always been smarter than to take pills or meth or any of that stuff. There are certian things we know will kill us; if we jump off a high building it will kill us, if we point a gun at our head and pull the trigger it will kill us, if we take drugs it is going to kill us. If we do away with all the high buildings, take away all the guns, destory all the drugs, people are still going to find stupid things to do to kill them selves. By the way Just A Handfull is wrong. It's more like a drop in the ocean rather than a river. "

To educated citizen wrote on Sep 29, 2009 10:59 AM:

" Educated Citizen, I think "Sour Grapes" may ring a bell for you. Yep the Jarrard fan club is back can't resist calling those who don't agree with Sheriff Jarrard names. "Joe Blow" (funny). No one is taking up for drug dealers just saying stop making a mountain out of a mole hill, and call it what it is. This was just a small time street dealer arrest. I hope they will get them all, but the rate will have to pick up a hundred fold if they get them in 3 years. "

" Yvette, You said "no where does it state that that was all they had in their possession. And the definition of trafficking doesn't state an amount just that you are selling or passing something or someone on to someone else illegally." Every drug law in the country sets an amount for it to be trafficking. Don't feel bad there are a lot people makes post on here without the facts. "

casper wrote on Sep 30, 2009 3:02 PM:

" I find it very funny reading what people write here. I honestly dont think that any of you understand just how deadly ecstasy really is. I have had more friends die from taking just one of those little pills than any other drug. People dont seem to remember to drink water or anything they dehydrate and die almost instantly. But really fuels my anger is the fact that when I went on the Detention Center web site to see what these people looked like the girl was not to be found. After asking a few questions I was informed she had made bond the next day, which I was told was very unusual. So I looked further, I looked at other newspaper articals and found out the names of other people arrested for drugs and most of them are still in jail waiting to go to court just to get a bond set. Now the man arrested with this girl is still in jail. I dont see how it is right that there was obviously some strings pulled here to get her out. What does that say about our county officials, when someone with those types of charges can go home but people with lesser charges cant. Why dont you people that think this is a small deal think about it this way, These people where very young and they could have sold to one of your children instead of an undercover. And if that child of yours died after taking those pills, then would you think oh it was only 100 pills nothing major. I dont think so. "

someone cares wrote on Oct 2, 2009 7:05 PM:

" WOW why do these weak minded people think that they have to do drugs. What is so wrong in your life that you have to kill your self this way. Oh let me guess your still going with the crowd doing what others do. that is a bunch of BS in my world! Grow up get a job and a education and live without drugs. If more of you drug users stood up and said enough is enough it would be ground breaking on this next generation that is coming up right now! People please stop being stupid! What happen to our small town? I was born and raised here and it makes me so mad.I want my small town back and I want it back now!!! I have kids and I will do by best to protect them and to keep them away from scum bags. And to all of you parents that say that you have tryed but it didn't help. Give me a break Get off your butts get out their and be involved with your kids know who they are with, know where they go. Show them that their is a different way to live. That they can have a life and not be gone for life.
I Know I got on my soap box but if more of us natives of Lumpkin Co. did, we might have a chance to get our town back and keep our kids safe.
May GOD be with every single one of us! "
